Querétaro government deploys operations due to pilgrimage, rains, and CFE outages.

Querétaro’s Secretary of Government, Eric Gudiño Torres, reported on actions taken by state authorities regarding several issues in San Juan del Río and other parts of the state, including the crash of an agricultural aircraft, the security operation for the annual pilgrimage, risks associated with heavy rainfall, land regularization, and ongoing power outages.

Agricultural Plane Suffered Mechanical Failure

Regarding the aircraft that crashed in a farming area of San Juan del Río, the state official explained that it was an agricultural plane used to spray products over crop fields.

According to the available information, the aircraft experienced a mechanical failure, forcing an emergency landing. The pilot survived and received medical attention for injuries sustained during the incident.

Gudiño Torres said he is currently unaware of the aircraft’s operational permit status, although he noted that those responsible for the aircraft are well known in the region for their agricultural work.

Security Operation Deployed for Women Pilgrims

The Secretary of Government also announced that the women’s pilgrimage has begun, accompanied by personnel from state and municipal Civil Protection agencies, firefighters, and public security forces.

Before the pilgrimage crossed the Sierra Gorda region, particularly near Neblinas and Landa de Matamoros, authorities inspected the routes due to recent rainfall.

Warning signs were installed in high-risk areas, and the State Infrastructure Commission carried out repairs on the road leading to Neblinas after damage was identified.

The objective, he said, is to ensure the safe development of the religious pilgrimage while protecting participants through coordination with the Diocese of Querétaro and the pilgrims’ association.

National Guard to Monitor Highway 57

Gudiño acknowledged that one of the most critical areas is the crossing of Federal Highway 57, where several construction projects are underway.

He stated that the National Guard has committed to providing traffic control and escort services along Highways 57 and 120, especially when pilgrimage groups from Querétaro’s 18 municipalities join the procession.

Municipal police departments and Civil Protection units from different regions will also participate. In addition, members of the pilgrims’ organization have received training to respond to emergencies during the journey.

Regarding the possibility of temporarily suspending construction work on Highway 57 during the pilgrimage, he said the request could be submitted to federal authorities, although maintaining security along the route remains the primary priority.

Authorities Continue Monitoring Heavy Rainfall

The Secretary stated that Civil Protection remains in constant communication with pilgrimage organizers and religious authorities to monitor weather conditions and implement preventive measures if heavy rainfall occurs.

He recalled that last week a landslide occurred near kilometer 155 of Federal Highway 120. The affected area has already been stabilized and properly marked with warning signs.

He added that landslides commonly occur between Tolimán and Bernal during the rainy season, although authorities have responded quickly whenever incidents arise.

The State Civil Protection Coordination continues monitoring municipalities while the State Infrastructure Commission has machinery strategically positioned to respond when necessary.

State Continues Request for Emergency Escape Ramp

Gudiño Torres reported that the state government continues urging federal authorities to build an emergency truck escape ramp on Highway 57 before reaching the city of Querétaro, specifically on the Cuesta China downhill section.

He explained that a formal request has already been submitted and that the project is currently under technical and budgetary review. He stressed that the infrastructure is urgently needed to prevent accidents on one of the state’s busiest freight corridors.

He clarified that the state’s role is to continue advocating before federal agencies for the project’s approval.

Reservoirs and Waterways Under Constant Surveillance

Due to increased rainfall, state and municipal authorities continue monitoring dams, reservoirs, and waterways.

In San Juan del Río, officials requested that the National Water Commission (Conagua) maintain continuous inspections of reservoirs and carry out cleaning operations on federally managed waterways. Meanwhile, the municipal government has completed dredging and debris removal at several locations.

He added that meetings had previously been held with municipal presidents and Civil Protection officials to coordinate preventive measures and minimize potential impacts on residents.

Municipal governments were also reminded to allocate their own emergency resources in addition to the support available from the state government.

Emergency declarations, he explained, allow authorities to access funding for restoration work, infrastructure repairs, and assistance to affected families when necessary.

At Least 300 Property Titles to Be Delivered in San Juan del Río

Regarding land regularization, Gudiño Torres announced that the state government continues operating a free program aimed at providing legal certainty to families living in informal settlements.

Approximately 1,000 property titles have already been delivered in municipalities such as Corregidora, Huimilpan, and Querétaro. The goal for this year is to issue at least 1,500 titles across the state.

In San Juan del Río, around 100 titles will initially be delivered, while another 100 cases remain in judicial proceedings. Authorities expect at least 300 local families to receive property titles before the end of the year.

The official encouraged residents to contact their municipal governments for information, noting that the process is free of charge but generally requires five to six months due to legal and administrative procedures.

State Government to Present Power Outage Complaints to CFE

Addressing the recurring power outages affecting San Juan del Río, Amealco, and other municipalities, Gudiño Torres announced that he will meet with officials from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).

The purpose of the meeting is to present complaints collected from residents, business owners, and industrial operators and request faster restoration of electrical service during outages.

He noted that prolonged blackouts cause significant problems for households, including food spoilage, the inability to operate water pumps, and difficulties preserving medications that require refrigeration.

For the industrial sector, he added, power interruptions result in production losses and economic damage.

According to information provided by the CFE, one of the main challenges is a shortage of personnel to respond promptly to service reports, as well as the need to strengthen preventive and corrective maintenance across the electrical grid.

Federal Government Continues Dialogue with Transport Organizations

Regarding complaints from transportation organizations, the Secretary stated that negotiations are primarily being handled by the federal government through the Ministry of the Interior (Secretaría de Gobernación).

He explained that regular meetings are being held with organizations such as the Mexican Alliance of Transport Organizations to maintain dialogue and address their concerns.

Compensation Process Continues Following Highway Accident

Finally, Gudiño Torres discussed the ongoing compensation process for families affected by the highway accident that occurred in Amealco.

He said the state government has provided support whenever possible, although several families are represented by private legal counsel.

He explained that the company involved continues cooperating and must fulfill any obligations determined by the judicial authorities.

Although he did not specify the current number of completed settlements, he confirmed that at least two additional agreements have recently been finalized, while the remaining cases continue through the legal process to determine responsibility and compensation.
