The Municipality of Querétaro has planted 30,000 trees and aims to reach 70,000 by 2026, Mayor Felifer Macías announced during the reforestation event, “Querétaro, the Green Capital,” held at La Queretana Park as part of National Tree Day.

During the event, more than 350 trees of 10 native species were planted, with the participation of over 500 volunteers, brigade members, members of civil society, and public servants.

Felifer Macías emphasized his administration’s commitment to promoting public policies focused on the preservation, conservation, and restoration of the environment.

“Today, we are commemorating World Tree Day, and just look at the response we had today. We have more than 500 people here in La Queretana Park carrying out reforestation work, including volunteers, municipal employees, members of civil society, and citizens who are taking a step forward in the conservation and preservation of our ecosystem,” he noted.

The mayor thanked everyone who participated in this effort, stating that these actions strengthen the recovery of the municipality’s ecosystem.

For her part, the Secretary of the Environment, Lupita Espinosa de los Reyes, pointed out that the Municipality of Querétaro maintains its leadership in environmental restoration with the establishment of the second Miyawaki forest in the capital and the third nationwide.

She explained that this reforestation technique allows for vegetation growth up to four times faster and promotes the conservation of species.

“And I want to tell you that this is the second Miyawaki forest in the municipality of Querétaro, and the most incredible and important thing of all is that it is the third Miyawaki forest in the country. The truth is that this technique has been revolutionary and will allow us to have much better-preserved trees,” he said.

During the event at La Queretana Park, specimens of palo dulce, dodonaea, lysiloma, guamúchil, granjeno, mesquite, huizache, tecoma, senna, and palo bobo were planted.

The Municipality of Querétaro will open a Municipal Service Center in the city center to bring procedures and services closer to residents of the northern area during the federal construction of the Mexico-Querétaro Train on Boulevard Bernardo Quintana.

The Municipality of Querétaro urged freight transport to respect the traffic restrictions due to the federal construction of the Mexico-Querétaro Train in the Bernardo Quintana area. As part of the operation, real-time monitoring cameras will be installed to provide information on traffic conditions.
