More than 30,000 people packed the fairgrounds last Sunday night to enjoy a free concert by Grupo Mojado.

With their greatest hits, the band turned the third day of the 2026 Feria del Carmen into a wonderful evening of romance, nostalgia, and festive celebration.

The performance by one of the grupera genre’s most iconic bands was part of the entertainment lineup organized by the administration of Mayor Estefanía Mercado.

The festival aims to strengthen traditions, foster family bonding, and bring quality entertainment to local residents and visitors alike as they enjoy the celebration and the vacation destination.

From early on, hundreds of local families, as well as domestic and international visitors, began arriving at the fairgrounds to enjoy the rides.

They also came to sample local cuisine, enjoy the leisure activities, and secure a good spot for one of the most anticipated musical performances of the festival lineup.

When the stage lights came up, the band was greeted with an ovation; they responded by performing a selection of the songs that have made them favorites within the romantic grupera genre.

The audience sang along from start to finish to hits such as “Piensa en mí,” “Tonta,” “Trapeaste conmigo,” “Motivos,” “Te felicito,” “Llorar quedito,” “El amor más fiel,” and “Si yo fuera él,” turning the fairgrounds into a massive choir.

The lights from thousands of cell phones illuminated the night as couples, young people, and families enjoyed a show that stirred up memories and emotions, drawing applause with every song.

The concert took place in an atmosphere of order, safety, and harmonious community spirit, overseen by the security operations implemented by various municipal agencies. Also performing on stage were ‘Grupo SH Norteño Banda,’ Colombian artist Johnny Hoyos (‘El Favorito’), and Los Elegantes del Carmen; they thanked Mayor Estefanía Mercado for the opportunity to perform on this grand stage and celebrate the cultural, artistic, and religious traditions honoring the Virgin of Carmen.

The atmosphere was a blend of the colorful free carnival rides, the aromas of regional cuisine, and the joy of a fair that draws thousands of people each night.

The 2026 Feria del Carmen will continue in the coming days with religious, cultural, culinary, and recreational activities, as well as a performance by Cachirula and Loojan on July 14; on Wednesday the 15th, Aleks Syntek will take the stage.

With this lineup, the Feria del Carmen solidifies its status as one of the most important festivals in Playa del Carmen and Quintana Roo.
