Five people died and several others were injured in various incidents over the weekend in Baja California Sur, including a shootout in Cabo San Lucas and three highway rollover accidents.
The most recent incident occurred early Sunday morning, shortly before 4:00 a.m. local time, according to a confirmation this morning from the state Attorney General’s Office (PGJE). The agency is investigating reports regarding the events at the La Terraza bar in the Ampliación Matamoros neighborhood of Cabo San Lucas.
Three men were found dead at the scene with gunshot wounds, and a fourth person was rushed to the hospital.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the four men were socializing at the establishment when an altercation broke out. One of them allegedly drew a weapon and fired shots; the attack was reportedly met with return fire from another person present.
The deceased were 23, 25, and 33 years old and hailed from the states of Tabasco, Sinaloa, and Guanajuato, respectively.
Investigative agents and forensic experts processed the scene and gathered evidence to establish the sequence of events and determine liability.

In a separate incident, two teachers from the Francisco J. Mújica secondary school in Cabo San Lucas died on Friday in a rollover accident on the La Paz–Cabo San Lucas highway, near kilometer marker 60.
The teachers, identified as Flor “N” and Alba “N,” were traveling to La Paz to join their families for the holiday break when their vehicle veered off the road, sustaining severe damage.
Authorities have not yet released information regarding the cause of the accident. The school communities of Los Cabos and La Paz expressed their condolences to the families and friends of both teachers, whose deaths prompted an outpouring of grief among students, colleagues, and parents.
Early Saturday morning, another vehicle rolled over on the Juan de Dios Ángulo bypass, near the Revolución neighborhood in La Paz. The accident left two people injured and mobilized emergency and security services.
On Saturday afternoon, another rollover occurred on the Transpeninsular Highway—on the stretch between Ciudad Constitución and La Paz, near kilometer marker 160. Emergency personnel arrived at the scene to assist two occupants, who were transported to a hospital in Ciudad Constitución.
State and municipal Civil Protection authorities urged the public to exercise extreme caution when traveling by road during this holiday period, which sees heavy traffic volume. They also called on drivers to heed recommendations and traffic signs, and to avoid driving while under the influence of alcohol or while fatigued.
Officials stated that they have deployed personnel to monitor highways and tourist areas as part of the 2026 summer operation to assist the public.
