The investigation into Octavio Jorge Cortés Jiménez, a businessman accused of allegedly assaulting a receptionist at a residential complex in Santa Fe, has revealed a new background detail. Publicly released court records indicate that he was arrested in California in 2025 in connection with a case involving alleged violence against a woman with whom he had or had previously had a dating relationship.

The information emerged alongside an investigation by the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office (FGJCDMX). The agency stated that it has an open investigation into the assault that occurred at the Paradox Park Life hotel, an incident captured on security cameras and widely shared on social media.

Case in the United States

Journalist Jorge García Orozco released a court record identifying Octavio Jorge Cortés Jiménez as a person arrested on October 17, 2025, in Sacramento County, California.

According to the document, the charge is “Battery Against Person W/Previous Dating Relationship,” a legal classification related to an alleged assault against a person with whom there was or had been a romantic relationship. The record states that the case was filed before a court in Sacramento County.

At this time, the publication of this record does not, by itself, indicate a conviction or final judgment in the case.

How the Incident in Mexico City Happened

The controversy began after a video surfaced showing Cortés Jiménez arguing with a receptionist at the Paradox Park Life hotel in Santa Fe.
