Journalist Jorge García Orozco released a court record identifying Octavio Jorge Cortés Jiménez as a person arrested on October 17, 2025, in Sacramento County, California.
According to the document, the charge is “Battery Against Person W/Previous Dating Relationship,” a legal classification related to an alleged assault against a person with whom there was or had been a romantic relationship. The record states that the case was filed before a court in Sacramento County.

The controversy began after a video surfaced showing Cortés Jiménez arguing with a receptionist at the Paradox Park Life hotel in Santa Fe.
According to a reconstruction presented by Ciro Gómez Leyva’s program on Grupo Fórmula, the businessman became upset because he did not receive an immediate response to a message requesting assistance in receiving a package.
The footage shows him going down to the reception area, arguing with the employee, and, after noticing he was being recorded, allegedly striking her, taking away her cell phones, and continuing the assault until she fell to the ground.

He also served as president of the Mazatlán Association of Real Estate Developers (ADIM) and was a member of the Municipal Public Security Council in Mazatlán representing the real estate sector.
Position of the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office
Following the release of the video, the Mexico City Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) reported that officers interviewed the 40-year-old receptionist and the hotel manager to provide guidance and support.
The agency added that the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office is conducting the investigation and coordinating protective measures for the victim.
The SSC also instructed its General Directorate of Private Security to investigate the private security company providing services at the complex and verify its administrative status as part of the investigation.
