But as it turned out, the total didn’t even reach a million tourists.
It is well known that most visitors came only for the matches and then left; very few stayed longer, and even then, only in the states hosting World Cup games.
- There was a lack of promotion. (Does SECTUR not exist anymore? 🤔)
- Travel advisories issued by governments—such as those of the US, UK, Spain, France, etc.—warning their citizens against visiting certain states or locations due to security concerns.
- Here in the capital, what we did see were hundreds of Haitians cheering for their country at Plaza del Carmen.
