The 27th Mezcal and Handicrafts Fair 2026 has officially opened in Oaxaca, strengthening its position as one of the most important events in the July celebrations for the Month of the Guelaguetza.
During the opening ceremony at the Oaxaca Cultural and Convention Center (CCCO), officials highlighted that the fair will run from July 17 to July 28, serving as a space where tradition, culture, and the work of hundreds of local producers come together. The event provides an important platform for families to promote their products and strengthen their economic activities.
Celebrating Oaxaca’s Culture
The Mezcal Fair offers an opportunity to showcase Oaxaca’s rich cultural, culinary, and artisanal heritage while supporting the economic development of communities dedicated to producing mezcal and other local goods.
This year’s edition features more than 400 exhibitors, including mezcal producers, artisans, agro-industrial businesses, and representatives from various productive sectors, all offering products made by Oaxacan hands.
The event has become an important showcase for promoting local consumption, strengthening cultural identity, and introducing both national and international visitors to the state’s diverse industries.
In addition to mezcal, visitors can enjoy:
- An artisan fair.
- An exhibition of Oaxacan craft beer.
- A coffee exhibition.
- A wide variety of traditional dishes representing the flavors of Oaxaca’s eight regions.
More Than 400 Exhibitors
The 2026 edition includes more than 400 booths, featuring:
- 106 mezcal producers
- 208 artisans
- 24 agro-industrial exhibitors
- 14 coffee producers
- 16 craft beer producers
- One collective tasting bar
- 20 food vendors
Admission to the venue costs 80 pesos, with all ticket proceeds benefiting the Hogar Primavera program, an initiative supported by the Oaxaca State Government.
More Than 100 Cultural Events
Throughout the 12-day festival, more than 100 artistic and cultural performances will take place between 11:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.
The entertainment lineup includes 20 local bands and musical groups, such as:

The program also features academic and professional activities, including panel discussions, specialized forums, and conferences focused on the international expansion of mezcal and the promotion of Oaxacan brands.
Expected Economic Impact
Authorities estimate that Guelaguetza 2026 and the Mezcal Fair will surpass last year’s attendance, when more than 135,000 people visited the fair during its 12-day run.
A significant increase in both domestic and international tourism is also expected, with the event projected to generate more than 36 million pesos in economic activity, benefiting mezcal producers, artisans, hotels, restaurants, merchants, and tourism service providers throughout Oaxaca.
