Tlaxcala accumulated 28 atrocities and high-impact events during the first half of 2026, placing it among the states with the lowest incidence in the country, according to the report “Gallery of Horror: Atrocities and High-Impact Events Recorded in the Media,” prepared by the organization Causa en Común.
The report places the state fifth nationally with the fewest documented atrocities, only ahead of Baja California Sur (18), Campeche (12), Yucatán (6), and Coahuila (6). In contrast, Sinaloa topped the national list with 326 events, followed by Michoacán (180), Guerrero (149), Guanajuato (143), and Chihuahua (140).
During the first half of 2026, Tlaxcala recorded 28 atrocities and high-impact events, with 35 victims.
According to the analysis, the most frequent atrocity in Tlaxcala was murder with torture, with nine cases, equivalent to almost a third of all high-impact events recorded in the state during the January-June period.
This was followed by four murders of women with extreme cruelty, four acts of violence against authorities, two clandestine graves, two massacres, two murders of key figures in security and justice, two cases of burning, one murder with mutilation, one day of violence, and one lynching.

Regarding the human impact, at least 35 victims were reported in the media as a result of these atrocities and high-impact events that occurred in Tlaxcala during the first half of 2026.
Nationally, Causa en Común documented 2,529 atrocities and high-impact events, as well as 2,181 news articles related to these events and at least 2,870 victims between January and June 2026.
The report specifies that the record is based on press reports and seeks to highlight the most extreme manifestations of violence that, in many cases, are not reflected in official statistics.
