Journalist Carlos Jiménez reported on a case involving Jorge Acuña, who allegedly worked as an anti-kidnapping public prosecutor within the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (FEMDO) of Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office (FGR), while also allegedly leading a group of police officers and civilian collaborators involved in kidnappings—the very crime he was assigned to investigate.

According to the report, Acuña and the individuals allegedly working with him recently deprived a woman of her liberty on the streets of Querétaro. The report claims that after taking her to Mexico City, they demanded 60 million pesos in exchange for her release.

The report further states that officers from the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City (SSPC) later carried out an operation in which Acuña was arrested and taken into custody.

He is now expected to appear before a judge to face the charges brought against him.
