During the early hours of Monday, July 20, an extensive police operation took place in Escobedo, Nuevo León, after a group of content creators discovered a body inside one of the rooms at Motel Nueva Castilla, the same location where the body of Debanhi Escobar was found.
What Did the TikTok Content Creators Find at Motel Nueva Castilla?
Although the property has remained closed since April 2022, the influencers allegedly entered the motel without authorization to record a video. After discovering the body, they notified the authorities.
According to the initial reports, the content creator entered the property with a group of young people to conduct a “paranormal investigation.” After noticing drag marks in one area, they followed them to Room 156, where they found the body of a deceased person.
Officers from the State Investigation Agency, forensic experts, and crime scene investigators are awaiting a search warrant to enter the property and carry out the corresponding investigation.
The content creators have been placed at the disposal of the authorities and are currently giving statements while awaiting possible sanctions for illegally entering the motel.
What Happened in the Debanhi Escobar Case?
Debanhi Susana Escobar Bazaldúa, 18, disappeared during the early hours of April 9, 2022, after attending a party in the municipality of Escobedo, Nuevo León.
The last known photograph of Debanhi was taken by a ride-hailing driver on the highway to Laredo near the company Alcosa, showing her standing beside the road. Reports indicated that the friends who invited her to the gathering and with whom she had arrived did not leave with her.
Following her disappearance, her family reported her missing, and search operations began throughout the area. After nearly two weeks of searching, on April 21, 2022, authorities found a body inside an abandoned underground water cistern at Motel Nueva Castilla, located just a short distance from where Debanhi was last seen.
The official investigation concluded that the cause of death was asphyxia due to obstruction of the airways, and the case was classified as femicide.
