The Governor of Oaxaca, Salomón Jara Cruz, inaugurated Casa Chiapas at the Margarita Maza Central Public Library, as part of a tourism and cultural collaboration strategy between the two states.
Accompanied by the honorary president of the Oaxaca DIF System, Irma Bolaños Quijano, Jara Cruz opened this space in the presence of the Governor of Chiapas, Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar.
Casa Chiapas will be open from July 19 to 26, from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m., featuring culinary demonstrations, spirit tastings, artisanal crafts for sale, and a gallery of regional costumes.
The initiative aims to promote Chiapas’ heritage, culture, and gastronomy during the Guelaguetza festivities, as well as strengthen cooperation between Oaxaca and Chiapas.
Before the opening, delegations from both states participated in the Oaxaca-Chiapas Brotherhood Cultural Procession, which wound through the city’s Historic Center.
The governors walked alongside Enid Azucena Torres Agustiniano, representing the Goddess Centéotl, accompanied by the Parachicos, the Chiapanecas, the Chinas Oaxaqueñas, and women from the Isthmus region.
The procession departed from the esplanade of the Santo Domingo de Guzmán Temple and proceeded along the pedestrian walkway to the Margarita Maza Central Public Library.
The day concluded with a concert by Arturo Aquino, “The Piano of Mexico.”
