The Chihuahua State Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (FACH), headed by its director, Abelardo Valenzuela Holguín, presented in Washington, D.C., the anti-corruption model it has implemented in the state during his tenure leading the institution.
In his capacity as vice president of the National Convention of Anti-Corruption Prosecutors (CONAFA), Valenzuela Holguín participated as a panelist and keynote speaker at the international forum “Cartels, Transnational Criminal Organizations and Compliance in Latin America,” organized by the American Conference Institute (ACI) and the District of Columbia Bar Association.
According to the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, this event is considered one of the most important specialized forums in the Americas on regulatory compliance, money laundering, national security, and institutional strengthening.
During his presentation, “Strengthening Institutions in the Fight Against Corruption,” Valenzuela Holguín shared Chihuahua’s experience in investigating corruption crimes, recovering public assets, strengthening the culture of reporting, and international cooperation as tools to close the door on transnational criminal organizations.
Before representatives of transnational corporations, compliance program managers, international financial institutions, Washington law firms, and U.S. justice system officials, the prosecutor stated that corruption and impunity are no longer merely a legal and administrative problem.
“Corruption and impunity are no longer just a legal and administrative problem; they have become a latent and strategic risk to the national security and economic stability of North America,” he noted.
The Attorney General’s Office emphasized that Chihuahua’s participation in this high-level international forum, which brought together U.S. government officials, members of the Washington judiciary, private sector leaders, and law enforcement agencies, reaffirms the recognition the institution has earned for its work.
According to the agency, the Chihuahua Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office has established itself, through its autonomy and results, as a national benchmark in the fight against corruption and as an institutional model that Mexico contributes to the international dialogue.
The institution also noted that this participation came at a particularly relevant time for the bilateral relationship between Mexico and the United States, as well as for the shared challenges in trade, security, and the rule of law.
