Municipal authorities confirmed the drowning death of a person whose body was found this Sunday at Palmarito Beach, in the Puerto Escondido area.
According to the Santa María Colotepec Municipal Government, the Directorate of Fisheries, Search and Rescue, in coordination with the municipal lifeguards, responded to the report and carried out the search and recovery of the body.
Subsequently, emergency personnel went to the Main Bay to provide support and coordinate the corresponding procedures with Civil Protection personnel and the relevant authorities.
Following this tragic event, the City Council urged residents and national and international tourists to respect the instructions of lifeguards and Civil Protection personnel at all times, as well as to heed the warning flags before entering the water.
Authorities reiterated that prevention is essential to avoid these types of tragedies, especially when wave conditions pose a risk to swimmers.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, while authorities carry out the corresponding procedures.
