Reggae band Big Mountain will perform a free concert on the La Paz boardwalk, joining a growing list of artists scheduled to perform in Baja California Sur during 2026, including Luis R. Conriquez, who recently confirmed a show in the state capital.
The performance is part of the Noches Pegajosas program, an initiative featuring live music and family-friendly activities at the boardwalk’s kiosk.
When and What Time Is Big Mountain’s Concert in La Paz?
The performers of “Baby, I Love Your Way” will take the stage on Friday, August 7, at the La Paz boardwalk kiosk at 8:00 p.m.
According to information released by Ándale La Paz A.C., admission will be free, and the event will be open to the general public.
Activities will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will include art, music, and dance-related experiences.
Before the concert, Tardes Calurosas will take place, a youth-focused event in which more than 30 organizations will set up information booths and interactive activities for attendees.
Who Is the Band Big Mountain?
Big Mountain is an American reggae band formed in San Diego, California. Its origins date back to the mid-1980s with a group known as The Rainbow Warriors.
In 1991, the band adopted the name Big Mountain. The current lineup includes:
- Quino McWhinney – Lead vocals
- James McWhinney – Vocals
- Lance Rhodes – Drums and percussion
- Billy Stoll – Keyboards
- Lynn Copeland – Bass
- Tony Chin – Guitar
Their first success on the U.S. charts came in 1993 with “Touch My Light.” However, they achieved international recognition in 1994 with their reggae version of “Baby, I Love Your Way,” originally recorded by Peter Frampton.
The song appeared on the soundtrack of the film Reality Bites and reached No. 2 on the UK charts and No. 6 on the U.S. charts.
That same year, the band released the album Unity, which included a Spanish-language version of “Baby, I Love Your Way.” The album sold more than one million copies worldwide and helped expand the band’s popularity throughout South America.
The album also featured the single “Sweet Sensual Love,” recorded in both English and Spanish.
Big Mountain’s musical style blends reggae with pop, a combination that led critics to compare them with the British band UB40.
Another international performer scheduled to visit La Paz in the coming months is Brazilian artist Lenny Jay with This Is Michael, a tribute show dedicated to Michael Jackson.

Throughout their career, the California-based band has remained active on international stages. The success of their early hits earned them appearances at the 1994 and 1995 Reggae Sunsplash Festival in Jamaica.

In addition, families with children will have more entertainment options in 2026, including El Señor de las Burbujas, which will be presented on Saturday, August 22, at Teatro Juárez in La Paz.
