Just hearing that phrase is enough for thousands of people to instantly remember Kalimán, the Incredible Man, one of the most iconic characters in the history of radio and comic books across Latin America.
What few people know is that behind this phenomenon was a man from León, Guanajuato: Rafael Cutberto Navarro Huerta, a visionary radio pioneer who began his career at some of León’s earliest radio stations before building a broadcasting empire with international reach.
He founded Radio Cadena Nacional, produced programs that left a lasting mark on an entire generation, and, together with Modesto Vázquez, created Kalimán—a character who went on to star in more than 1,000 radio episodes, 1,300 comic book issues, and even several films.
🕊️ On July 29, 1990, Rafael Cutberto Navarro Huerta passed away. He is remembered as one of the most influential entrepreneurs in the history of Mexican radio, leaving behind a legacy that continues to live on in the memories of millions of listeners.
