This statement has regained significance amidst the debate over new guidelines regarding audience rights—promoted by the federal government—which have sparked concern among journalists, experts, and organizations due to the risk of increased State intervention in radio and television content.
The UN reiterated that Mexico has an international obligation to protect everyone’s right to seek, receive, and impart information, as well as to avoid indirect restrictions on the exercise of freedom of expression.
