12 Freight Train Gondola Cars Derail in Tecomán, Colima; Here Is How the Railway Accident Happened

Authorities confirmed that the train derailment in the area known as El Túnel caused no danger to nearby residents.

In Colima, 12 railcars from a freight train transporting iron ore to the Alzada Mine, in the municipality of Cuauhtémoc, derailed in the community of Madrid, located in the municipality of Tecomán.

The railway accident damaged approximately 150 meters of track.

Authorities confirmed that the derailment in the El Túnel area did not affect the local population.

No injuries were reported, as the accident occurred several kilometers away from the urban area, according to local authorities.

Meanwhile, personnel from Ferromex are carrying out recovery operations at the site to remove the derailed railcars and restore railway service.

Location of the Incident

The community of Madrid is located in the municipality of Tecomán, in the state of Colima, Mexico. It is situated in the southern part of the state, along the route between the city of Tecomán and the municipality of Coquimatlán.
