Oaxaca Attorney General Óscar Tonatiuh Vázquez Landero denied that his office has failed to act or shown negligence in the case involving professor Enrique Rojas, who was the victim of alleged police abuse.
The attorney general stated that the State Attorney General’s Office has maintained continuous oversight and legal support throughout the investigation.
He explained that authorities recently held a working meeting with the victim’s legal representative to coordinate progress in the case. He also noted that the victim’s family has received ongoing assistance since last year, when the corresponding criminal investigation was formally opened.
Vázquez Landero clarified that although certain investigative steps remained pending—including the victim’s formal testimony and several forensic examinations—those delays were due to the victim’s particular circumstances rather than any lack of action by the authorities.
The attorney general concluded by stating that communication with the victim’s legal defense has been normalized and reaffirmed the Attorney General’s Office’s commitment to continuing its efforts to clarify the facts and pursue justice.
