Two alleged members of the Alliance of Unions and Associations of the State of Oaxaca (ASAEO) were arrested during an operation conducted by the State Attorney General’s Office in the La Loma neighborhood—located in the Santiaguito area of San Lorenzo Cacaotepec, Etla—to reclaim 37 hectares that had been occupied by the aforementioned organization.
Following a complaint filed with the State Attorney General’s Office regarding the occupation of the property—where members of the organization had brought in heavy machinery and constructed a dwelling—the agency requested a warrant to search and reclaim the site.
Early Tuesday morning, personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office carried out an operation in the area, supported by the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, to reclaim and secure the property.
After police officers entered the site, two individuals were arrested; they will be brought before the Public Prosecutor, who will determine their legal status.
The area has been secured by the police, and the investigation is ongoing to take action against the individuals who allegedly ordered the seizure of the 37 hectares in the aforementioned Etla Valley community.
