To guarantee the water supply for the agricultural sector in the region, the National Water Commission (Conagua), through its Hidalgo Local Office, is carrying out scheduled and controlled extraction operations at four of the main reservoirs in the Mezquital Valley, ensuring that these activities pose no danger to nearby communities.
According to the federal agency’s official report, reservoirs in the Valley of Mexico region have an overall storage level of 88.4 percent of their total capacity.
Flow Rates and Storage Levels Breakdown
Flow release and regulation operations are distributed as follows:
- Endhó Dam: Records the highest extraction rate at 33.193 cubic meters per second (m³/s). The reservoir is at 100.5 percent of its capacity (183.784 million cubic meters) and has a controlled discharge of 7.013 m³/s.
- Taxhimay Dam: Maintains an extraction rate of 10 m³/s and is at 62.5 percent of its capacity, with 24.933 million cubic meters (Mm³).
- Rojo Gómez Dam: Operates with an outflow of 8 m³/s, reaching 77.5 percent capacity (30.976 Mm³).
- Requena Dam: Maintains an extraction rate of 4.08 m³/s and stands at 82.3 percent of its usable volume (36.031 Mm³).
- Vicente Aguirre Dam: Records 59.7 percent storage, equivalent to 10.631 Mm³.
Regarding the Northern Gulf region, La Esperanza Dam (Cuautepec) is reported at 100 percent of its capacity, with 3.92 Mm³, while the Fernando Hiriart Balderrama Dam, located in the municipality of Zimapán, stands at 84.5 percent, with 1,174.710 Mm³.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service (SMN) reported that scattered showers (5 to 25 millimeters) are expected across Hidalgo today, along with contrasting conditions featuring maximum temperatures of up to 40 °C in the northern part of the state and minimum temperatures of 0 to 5 °C in highland and mountainous areas.

Conagua reiterated that it will maintain continuous monitoring of the state’s water infrastructure to prevent emergencies and guarantee the safety of residents.
