The “Federal checkpoint at El Hongo” now thinks it is a tax collection agency—they accept cash and bank transfers. Thanks for always being at the forefront.
Be very careful if you pass through the El Hongo checkpoint, because the law enforcement officers there are not exactly focused on keeping the road safe… but rather on looking for a “bribe”!
A local resident reports that, despite having ANAPROMEX plates and everything in order (license, insurance, and so on), they pulled the classic move: they showed him a “Facebook notification” as if it were federal law to hold him up.
The result: They got him to hand over $3,000 pesos, not before preventing him from communicating with anyone, so there would be no witnesses.
“In order to get to my destination, they asked me for 3,000 pesos, but since they didn’t have cash, they accepted a bank transfer, and I have the document here.”
