Arturo Zaldívar, the current General Coordinator of Policy and Government for the Presidency, stated that individuals under investigation, facing charges, or even subject to an arrest warrant can run for office.
The question is: why bring this up at the President’s press conference? It looks as though they are encouraging criminals to run for office—or perhaps preemptively covering themselves regarding the various Morena candidates with criminal ties who might appear on the 2027 ballot.
It is incredible: they want to shut the door on Mexicans with dual nationality, yet they leave it wide open for criminal candidates.
