Personnel from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) addressed several reports of power outages and interruptions to the electricity service in El Castillo, El Recreo and several neighborhoods of Mazatlán, said interim Mayor Minerva Osuna Zavala.
She added that in El Castillo, where residents blocked Mexico-Nogales International Highway 15 on Sunday afternoon because of the lack of electricity, the service has already been restored.
Osuna Zavala said that she maintains communication with two CFE superintendents to forward the outage reports she receives from residents and community representatives.
“All the requests reach me through the community representatives. They all have my phone number and they send me messages at any time, and we attend to them at any time. I have the phone numbers of two CFE superintendents, and I was contacting engineer Marco Jusaino, one of the superintendents who always assists me, together with Mr. Husein,” Osuna Zavala said.
She explained that CFE also attended to reports in El Castillo and El Recreo, as well as several neighborhoods in the city.
In Playa Sur, an outage occurred after a vehicle crashed into a pole, knocking down several power lines. The problem was repaired later that afternoon.
Meanwhile, residents in Villa Galaxia and Olímpica reported intermittent electricity service. According to the mayor, those reports were also forwarded to CFE and the service was subsequently restored.
Regarding the blockade carried out by residents of streets such as Virgilio Uribe in the Historic Center, who gathered on Ignacio Zaragoza Avenue on Sunday evening because of the lack of electricity, Osuna Zavala said she was unaware of the incident because some reports are sent directly to the Secretary of the City Council, who handles those cases.
“Perhaps that one was sent to the Secretary. Sometimes the two of us handle everything,” she said.
