With the aim of improving the State Police’s response to high-risk situations and strengthening the “Blindaje Aguascalientes” (Aguascalientes Shield) security initiative, members of the Explosive Specialist Operators Unit of the State Secretariat of Public Security (SSPE) underwent training in the United States.
State Secretary of Public Security Antonio Martínez Romo highlighted that continuous training and officer specialization ensure a workforce better equipped to respond safely, rapidly, and effectively to complex situations, while also bolstering the force’s operational capabilities to protect the public.
He detailed that the officers participated in the “Post-Blast Investigation” and “Explosive Evidence Exploitation (E3)” international courses. These were organized by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and conducted at the National Center for Explosives Training and Research (NCETR), located at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, USA.
During this training, the officers gained specialized knowledge in evidence investigation and analysis, as well as techniques for identifying, dismantling, and neutralizing improvised explosive devices.
Martínez Romo noted that this exchange of knowledge allows for the adoption of techniques and procedures that help raise the State Police’s operational standards and reinforce the prevention and response capabilities central to the “Blindaje Aguascalientes” initiative.
Finally, he indicated that this training is part of the SSPE’s ongoing professionalization program and stems from the coordination the force maintains with national and international institutions and agencies specializing in security.
