Coparmex Reports Record Low Business Confidence and Investment Hesitation in Yucatan

Business confidence in Yucatan has plummeted to historic lows, with only 17.9% of Coparmex Merida members considering the current period a favorable time to invest in the state. According to David Reyes Aguiar, president of the business organization, this figure indicates that roughly eight out of ten local entrepreneurs currently lack confidence in the regional economic climate. Business leaders point to growing regulatory uncertainty and recent high-profile controversies as major deterrents to pouring fresh capital into local projects.

Among the primary catalysts driving this widespread apprehension is the recent temporary closure of “Las Dunas” complex in Chuburna, which rattled investor sentiment regarding government oversight and property security. Business owners argue that sudden administrative shutdowns create a volatile environment that discourages long-planning and expansion. Consequently, the prevailing climate of caution threatens to slow regional development, highlighting an urgent need for authorities to reestablish legal certainty and rebuild trust within the local business community.
