The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) spent four months building an investigation against Hernán Bermúdez Requena, leader of “La Barredora,” one of the main groups identified as generators of violence in Tabasco. In February 2025, the FGR obtained an arrest warrant.
That same day, Bermúdez Requena allegedly received a tip-off. He rented an aircraft at Mérida Airport, paid 50,000 U.S. dollars in cash — approximately one million pesos — and left Mexico.
The warning allegedly came from the Yucatán Public Security Secretariat (SSP), headed by Luis Felipe Saidén Ojeda. National Guard agents at the airport terminal also reportedly failed to investigate the departure. The name being mentioned within government circles is that of Carlos Flores Moo, deputy secretary of investigations at the SSP.
Since last year, Yucatán has reportedly no longer been notified about sensitive operations. There are allegedly people infiltrated within the police force. The confrontation between federal and state authorities has intensified.
