Eight People Rescued in Tecalitlán, Jalisco, During Joint Operation
Eight people were rescued in Tecalitlán, Jalisco, following a joint operation by the Deputy Prosecutor’s Office for Missing Persons, in coordination with the National Guard and the Secretariat of National Defense.
The operation also resulted in the confirmed arrest of six suspected criminals following a search of a property located in the southern region of the state.
The investigation began in July 2026, following a complaint filed by the family of a young man approximately 20 years old.
How Did the Operation in Tecalitlán Take Place?
The victim reported that he was going to work at a ranch and boarded a vehicle operated through a digital transportation platform. From that moment onward, all contact with him was lost.
Intelligence work made it possible to locate the residence where he was believed to be, leading to the operational deployment that culminated in the discovery of the victims, who were originally from Mexico City, Guerrero, Michoacán, and Sinaloa, and ranged in age from 16 to 43.
Authorities seized green plant material, medications, three pairs of crutches, orthopedic boots, a gram scale, tactical footwear, and 100 live 5.56×45-caliber rounds at the site.
“Apparently, they used that place as a recovery center for recruits; that is, when they were injured during some action they carried out, they would take them there, treat them, and give them medication,” explained Salvador González de los Santos, Jalisco’s state prosecutor.
Six people were arrested during the operation in Tecalitlán and have already been placed at the disposal of a judge.
Following the discovery of specialized medical supplies and surgical nails among some of those rescued, authorities are maintaining an open line of investigation to determine whether healthcare professionals in the region were directly collaborating with the criminal organization.
“We are, of course, investigating that,” the prosecutor said when questioned about the possible complicity of local medical personnel.
The six detainees — five men and one woman — were placed at the disposal of a control judge on charges of human trafficking and disappearance committed by private individuals.
Meanwhile, the rescued victims were transferred to the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area for comprehensive care and subsequent reunification with their families.
