Residents of the Pacho Viejo community blocked the Xalapa-Coatepec highway this morning—near the turnoff for the Córdoba bypass—to protest the failure to resurface the main road leading to the town and the Pacho Viejo Social Reintegration Center (Cereso).
The residents stated that they had requested the road’s repair from the authorities due to its poor condition; however, faced with a lack of a favorable response, they decided to stage a protest and peacefully block traffic.

Officers from the Secretariat of Public Security, including riot police, arrived at the scene and are awaiting instructions, while Regional Policy personnel are engaging in dialogue with the protesters to seek a solution and clear the roadway.
The blockade is disrupting traffic between Xalapa and Coatepec and complicating access to the Pacho Viejo prison. Motorists are advised to take precautions and consider alternative routes while negotiations continue.
