Despite repairs carried out at facilities of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), which affected hydraulic systems operated by the State Public Services Commission (CESPT) and left several neighborhoods in Tijuana and Rosarito without or with intermittent potable water service, users in 17 areas continue to report a lack of water in both municipalities.
On the morning of August 11, the state-owned utility posted on its official Facebook page that, due to failures in the electricity supply, the operation of hydraulic facilities at different points, including the El Carrizo Booster, was experiencing a lack of or intermittent potable water service in at least 59 neighborhoods in Tijuana and Rosarito. However, on September 11, sources at the CFE consulted by ZETA reported that the failure at the federal agency’s facilities, caused by acts of vandalism that triggered the contingency, had already been repaired as of Friday at 3:00 p.m.
Despite this, CESPT has not provided information on the current situation in the neighborhoods that were experiencing a lack of or intermittent potable water service. Nevertheless, in comments made on posts on the state agency’s official Facebook page, users from several neighborhoods continue to report a lack of water, including several that were not included on the state agency’s official lists.
According to users, there is still a lack of water in neighborhoods such as El Tecolote, Natura, El Pípila, and La Gloria, which were included on the agency’s list. Meanwhile, areas that do not appear on the list include Cumbres del Mar, Pedregal de Santa Julia, Lázaro Cárdenas, Residencial Agua Caliente, Colinas de Agua Caliente, Los Olivos, Morelos, Alemán, Granjas División del Norte, Residencial Agua Caliente, Terrazas del Valle, and Nueva Aurora, in Tijuana; and Colinas de Rosarito and Santa Lucía, in Rosarito.

ZETA requested confirmation from the CESPT communications department regarding the information provided by CFE sources, as well as whether service had already been restored in the listed neighborhoods and what was causing the lack of water and intermittent service still being reported by users in some of the neighborhoods mentioned on the list and those that are not included on it. However, no response had been received by the time this article was published.
