According to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), between February and April 2026, 57.9 percent of respondents stated that insecurity is the issue that currently affects them the most.
The perception collected by the statistical agency contrasts with the continued statements made by authorities, who maintain that there is a climate of peace, tranquility, and well-being among residents.
Social and Economic Problems in San Luis Potosí
After insecurity, health ranked second at 47.5 percent, a level of dissatisfaction that coincides with complaints reported in recent months, particularly those related to deficiencies at the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).
The increase in the prices of products was subsequently highlighted, according to 34.3 percent of respondents. With little difference, the shortage of water followed at 34.0 percent, while unemployment reached 29.1 percent.
Corruption stood at 17.9 percent; drug trafficking at 13.6 percent; and the lack of punishment for criminals at 13.5 percent, according to the National Survey of Urban Public Security (ENVIPE).
In contrast to the main concerns, the issues considered least significant by the population of San Luis Potosí were poverty, at 13.3 percent, and education, at 12.5 percent.
