The sky is dyed with colors, music takes over the atmosphere and the pre-sale of tickets for Guelaguetza 2024 is announced, to be held during the month of July in the state of Oaxaca.
Guelaguetza is a Zapotec word that means brotherhood, sorority, creating a family through dance, music and food culture.
The eight regions of the entity will merge as a sign of communion between diversity, respect and prosperity.
Berta Ruth Arreola, Secretary of Interculturality, People and Indigenous and Afro-Mexican Communities, in the state of Oaxaca, explained that it is an eminently popular festival.
The Guelaguetza 2024 “allows us to live with all our indigenous and Afro-Mexican brothers in community, the festival also means help and giving,” said the official.
The organizers revealed some of the dates on which activities that visitors cannot miss will take place:
July 1: Inauguration
July 6, 12, 13: Treats
July 20 and 27: Parade of delegations
July 22 and 29: Hill Monday
July 20 to 30: Mezcal Fair
This year, 93 activities are planned, including the invitations, the parade of delegations, two Mondays on the hill and the mezcal fair.

For these holidays, it is estimated that more than 130 thousand national and more than 8 thousand foreigners will arrive at the entity.
Regarding hotel occupancy, Saymi Pineda, Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Oaxaca, explained that there is an average hotel occupancy of 81.32% and an approximate economic impact of 517 million pesos.
Of that 81%, 30% are European, American and Canadian visitors.
To protect the safety of visitors, a special security device will be deployed that includes the participation of the Secretary of the Navy, the National Defense, the National Guard and state and municipal police.
When does the pre-sale of tickets for Guelaguetza 2024 begin?
This May 15, the pre-sale of 15% of the ticket opens and the general sale on June 1.
Alejandra Frausto, Secretary of Culture, expressed:
“Of course it is the cultural heart of Mexico, and of course it gives us great joy to share the Guelaguetza, which is a community tradition and a tradition to give thanks and to build community.”
Tickets, in their pre-sale phase, cost between 1,300 and 1,600 pesos. There are two sections:
A: one thousand 366 pesos
B: one thousand 079 pesos
In both prices a service charge is charged.
