The hurricane season in the Pacific Ocean officially began. When are they likely to affect Puerto Vallarta?

This May 15 officially began the hurricane season in the Mexican Pacific. Like all natural phenomena, they have the potential to be risky, and the coasts of Jalisco, in turn, have a high probability of being affected by their arrival.
Let us remember that just last October 2023, Hurricane Lidia caused damage to the coastal municipality of our state.
According to information from the National Meteorological Service (SMN), this year 15 to 18 named systems are expected in the Pacific Ocean, of which the following are forecast:
3-4 hurricanes between categories 3-5
4-5 hurricanes between categories 1-2
8 to 9 tropical storms
Any of these cyclonic systems could be dangerous for the coasts of Jalisco, and specifically, for Puerto Vallarta.
When will the first hurricanes arrive in Puerto Vallarta?
In reality, it is difficult to give a hasty and uninformed response. The cyclone season, which began this Wednesday, May 15, will not end until November 30, so, starting today, a tropical storm could form at any time, and in turn a hurricane, on the coasts of our state, and which in turn could affect Puerto Vallarta.
The weather conditions, according to experts, are ideal for several tropical storms to form during 2024, so we can expect an intense year in terms of cyclonic activity.
Currently, a low pressure system with cyclonic potential is expected to develop over the weekend in Oaxaca and Chiapas, which, if it evolves, would be the first cyclone of the season, named “Aletta.”
It is important to stay informed on the official networks of the Government of Mexico and the Government of Jalisco, to be alert to any meteorological activity that could affect the coasts of Vallarta.
