Zihuatanejo de Azueta occupies third place nationally in extension of certified beaches, surpassing Playa Oro in Jalisco
The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE Mexico) will award the international Blue Flag distinction to a second stretch of La Ropa beach in Zihuatanejo during the 2024-2025 season, which will begin in July. This was reported by Ángel Israel Campos García, director of Environment and Natural Resources of the municipality.
This new certified section of La Ropa beach has an extension of 545.82 linear meters. The Blue Flag distinctive is an international recognition that is awarded for meeting high standards of water quality, environmental management and education, security and multiple services, all actions promoted by the municipal government under the direction of Mayor Jorge Sánchez Allec.
Currently, Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo has 3,308.37 linear meters of beach with the Blue Flag distinction, which includes the El Palmar I, II and III beaches in Ixtapa, as well as La Ropa and La Madera in Zihuatanejo.
Campos García highlighted that Zihuatanejo de Azueta ranks third nationally in terms of certified beaches, surpassing Playa Oro in Jalisco.
