During the first hours of the election day, the first attacks are already looming.

Around nine o’clock in the morning on Sunday, June 2, while the 2024 elections are taking place, it was reported that two subjects set fire to a polling station located in Constituyentes del Parque, in Querétaro, after spraying gasoline and setting it on fire.
Two individuals on a motorcycle went to one of the polling stations installed in Juriquilla and set fire to the ballots, then fled in the direction of Paseo de la República.
People who were at the site, exercising their right to vote, captured the moment, and even a citizen who was riding a truck hit them, just when they tried to escape.
The video has quickly gone viral, and has also caused controversy due to the poor security implemented in the most important elections in the country.
So far, there are no reports of people arrested, and the authorities are awaiting a statement.
Violence during the 2024 elections
This case in Querétaro is added to that of Puebla, where shortly after the start of the electoral day, Puebla was the first entity where electoral attacks were reported, when allegedly armed subjects took around 500 ballots.
On the other hand, the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Electoral Crimes (FISEL) reported that since the beginning of the electoral process to date, 176 complaints have been received for alleged electoral crimes, which are already being investigated by public prosecutors.
Luisa María Alcalde will be in contact with state authorities
In this sense, the Secretary of the Interior, Luisa María Alcalde Luján, assured that the country is calm at the start of the electoral day on June 2.
She reported that after casting her vote at the polling station in the San Francisco neighborhood, Coyoacán, she will return to the security cabinet to be in contact with authorities of the states of the Republic.
He indicated that the armed forces and the National Guard collaborate in an extraordinary way in security actions to guarantee citizens the free exercise of voting.
So far, in the 2024 elections, Quérator and Puebla are the entities where violence has been recorded, which involves burning of polling stations and theft of ballots.
