Sergio González Rubiera, president of the Mexican Association of Inbound Tourism Agencies, has stated that in response to pressure from transporters, there is already a concrete proposal to lower the rates at the Tulum airport, which would even be lower than those at the Cancun airport.

“I had a talk with authorities from the commercial area of the airport to ask what happened with the access rates, which are very expensive and out of the market. The good news is that there is already a very good concrete proposal, but it only needs to be endorsed by the board of directors,” said González Rubiera.

The approval of this proposal will be subject to the meeting of the board of directors of the air terminal. This meeting will take place between June 16 and 20, since there are currently two types of payments, a daily one of 800 pesos plus VAT per unit and trip, and a monthly charge that amounts to four thousand 300 pesos.

Large windows that let in natural light, high ceilings and a design that highlights the jungle environment are what passengers find when they arrive at Tulum International Airport. (Tulum Airport: details of the inconveniences and successes).

They praise the fact that passing through the airport allows you to marvel at the Mayan environment, its innate mysticism and its otherworldly air, but they admit that lunch, a glass of wine or a hamburger can be appealing depending on the time of day. The only shops open at the airport after security are the duty-free shops, which sell mainly alcohol, except for some gourmet chocolates and special nuts, Travel Weekly highlights. With luck, you can eat a baguette with ham and cheese and some sweets in small places.
