Teachers will keep the exits from Tuxtla Gutiérrez to Berriozábal and Chiapa de Corzo blocked
Tuxtla Gutiérrez.- Teachers from the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE) blocked the exit from Tuxtla Gutiérrez to Berriozábal, known as “La Pochota”, as well as the highway to Chiapa de Corzo, at the height of the La Angostura Crossroads, as part of their pressure measures to the federal government to comply with their demands.
It was at 09:30 hours when simultaneously, groups of teachers gathered at both points and prevented traffic on the roads, placing stones and other objects to prevent traffic on the lanes. According to teachers, it is planned to lift the road blockade at 16:00 hours, however this may change as the hours pass.
It is worth noting that this Tuesday, June 4, at 11:00 a.m., the national meeting between the CNTE’s Single National Negotiation Commission (CNUN) and President Andrés Manuel López Obrador will take place, where it is expected that teachers will be able to engage in dialogue with the federal government and receive a favorable response to their demands.
This is the twentieth day of mobilizations by members of the CNTE who are pressuring the government to demand the repeal of the educational reform, a salary increase, the permanent status of teachers, and the dignification of educational infrastructure, among others.
