High temperatures in Mexico have already caused 125 deaths nationwide and 2,308 cases of heat stroke until the second week of June this year, the Ministry of Health reported on Thursday.
In its latest weekly epidemiological surveillance report, the agency specified that, only in week 23, which covers from June 6 to 12, 371 cases associated with extreme natural temperatures and 35 deaths were reported nationwide.
Of the total number of deaths reported, 10 are “attributed to the second heat wave, and 19 deaths attributed to the third wave.”
The agency recalled that the hot to very hot environment will continue in the northwest, north and northeast of Mexico, with temperatures above 40 degrees forecast in 10 states of the country. It specified that in Baja California and Sonora temperatures above 45 degrees will be recorded.
