Exponen sobrepoblación de cocodrilos en Tamaulipas; sugieren trasladarlos a otros estados

The crocodile population in the southern part of the state of Tamaulipas has increased considerably, so they have begun to move to urban areas, even reaching Miramar beach.

In recent days, sightings have been reported in high-traffic areas or in spaces frequented by tourists, which has begun to alert the population. Therefore, specialists have suggested to the authorities that some of the specimens be moved to other states in the country to control their population and prevent them from being attacked due to misinformation.

Crocodiles are a territorial species, which means that if a male tries to enter an area already dominated by another, it will seek to move to less common places. This is what has caused some to be located on roads or on Miramar beach, on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico.

The rains of the last few weeks have increased the water in the drains used to avoid flooding, channels that they have used to move to urban areas.

Experts have suggested that the crocodiles be moved to other states such as Nuevo León, where there is the infrastructure to keep them in the proper conditions for their conservation.
