The Navy, through the Mexican Navy, reports that on Monday, July 1, 2024, as a result of naval intelligence work by this Institution, as well as operational personnel belonging to the General Staff of the Mexican Navy, in conjunction with authorities from the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), eight search warrants were simultaneously executed in the municipality of Culiacán, Sinaloa, resulting in the arrest of nine alleged offenders.
The above resulted in the seizure of: documentation, cash in national and foreign currency, controlled chemical substances and precursors, stored in drums, jars and bottles containing transparent, brown, yellowish liquids, used for the manufacture of synthetic drugs; solid substances, both white and crystalline, with characteristics of methamphetamine; and blue pills marked with the legend M30, possibly fentanyl.
In addition, various equipment and machinery were seized, including tablet presses, industrial mixers and stretch wrappers, as well as various materials for handling chemical substances. Taking into account the investigative actions, it is presumed that at least the tablet press seized was in operation during the period from May 1 to June 30, a period during which it could have produced around 6,700,000 (six million seven hundred thousand) tablets, whose approximate value would be one billion seven hundred (1,700,000,000) million pesos, which at the current exchange rate is equivalent to more than ninety-two million (92,000,000) dollars.
It is worth mentioning that, in addition, high-end vehicles, various firearms, fragmentation grenades, as well as ballistic material and telecommunications equipment, among other objects, were found. And, six properties linked to these alleged criminal activities were seized.
The properties and objects seized were put at the disposal of the Federal Public Prosecutor, who continues to compile the investigation file for the aforementioned crimes. The chemical substances, controlled precursors, pills and possible narcotics are in the process of chemical profiling for their forensic determination.
Likewise, the nine people arrested have been linked to the process and were ordered to be held in preventive detention as a precautionary measure, for which reason they will be interned in social rehabilitation centers located in Aguaruto and Guasave.
In this way, the Secretariat of the Mexican Navy reaffirms its commitment to the fight against organized crime and will continue to work in coordination with the federal forces and the Attorney General’s Office to guarantee security and justice in our country.
