The head of the meteorology department of the National Water Commission (Conagua), Jessica Luna Lagunes, announced that the rains will continue in the next three months, that is, July, August and September.

«They tell us that they will be more than normal in the rest of July, such as the passage of tropical wave number 12 this weekend, and in the months of August and September, all this is due to the passage of tropical storms and troughs that will cause the precipitations to continue.»

The heaviest rains will be recorded from the second half of August and the first half of September, hence “we are still heading towards the most critical months.”

Regarding the rain forecast, the quarter July, August, September is being observed that the precipitation will be above normal, with more rains than normal for the quarter.

“Even July, according to statistics, already has above-normal rainfall and all this is due to the passage of tropical waves, to what was Tropical Storm Chris, which caused intense rainfall and in this second half of July we will have this weekend the passage of Tropical Wave number 12 and later we will see troughs that will allow the rainfall to continue,” he predicted.

23 tropical cyclones are expected between August and October and there will be no dog days this year.

The dog days are a climatic phenomenon that occurs during the last half of July and lasts approximately 40 days in Mexico.
