A sandstorm occurred in the south of the Mexicali Valley, where power outages were reported.
According to preliminary data from Civil Protection of Mexicali, the winds are blowing towards the Gulf of Santa Clara in San Luis Río Colorado.
The storm is affecting the town of Colonias Nuevas and its surroundings. Civil Protection asked drivers to turn on their vehicle lights and respect the speed limit.
The entire population was advised to stay away from objects that could fall, such as dry tree branches, signs and electric cables.
