A crocodile was found inside a tortilleria in the municipality of Culiacán, Sinaloa.

When the owners arrived, they found the small reptile on the stairs of the establishment.

After receiving the report, elements of Municipal Civil Protection moved to the Ruiz Cortínez colony, where they found the crocodile of approximately 50 centimeters long resting at the foot of the interior staircase of the tortilleria.

The head of this department, Jesús Bill Mendoza Ontiveros, indicated that the reptile was immobilized by its snout to avoid risks and later they transferred it to animal protection, where it was kept under guard.

The Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection was notified, who will be in charge of the follow-up and the release in coordination according to the norm,” he said.

The authorities indicated that it did not cause any harm to the employees of the tortilleria, because they alerted the authorities in a timely manner and avoided capturing it themselves.

Just in June of this year, another crocodile of approximately one meter was found in the yard of a house in the 22 de Diciembre neighborhood and another inside a building in the Esperanza neighborhood.

After capturing them, both were taken to a shelter and later released in a place far from the city, in a habitat where they can grow and reproduce naturally.
