
The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) announced the new tool that will be provided to all beneficiaries so that they can carry out procedures and services electronically, without having to go to physical facilities.
Through social networks, the agency revealed that the activation of the IMSS Mailbox must be done no later than February 1, 2025, since it will be the portal through which the beneficiaries will be notified, but what is it for and how do you enter it?
What is the IMSS Mailbox and what is it for?
The electronic communication system, also known as the IMSS Mailbox, is a new mechanism implemented by the Mexican Social Security Institute to facilitate the procedures of the beneficiaries and inform about the requirements and obligations that are needed.
The new tool also allows beneficiaries to know the promotions published by the agency and to access official services by uploading digital documents.
One of the greatest benefits of the program is that you can make inquiries about your tax and administrative situation without having to go to the physical facilities, in addition to different virtual activities.

How to access My IMSS Mailbox and what days is it available?
The IMSS Mailbox is a digital platform that will be open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and to enter it, beneficiaries only need to have an electronic device with internet access.
To create the account, you must enter www.imss.gob.mx/buzonimss and complete a document validation form with: e.g. SAT signature, an email, a cell phone number and the signature of the terms and conditions.
Although it was initially thought that the procedure was only necessary for ’employers’, the institute confirmed that it is for all people who wish to have the new digital tool.
“Right holders, employers, obligated subjects, public accountants, certified public accountants, jointly liable parties, related third parties, whether natural or legal persons and legal representatives,” he explained.
From what day can it be activated and how does it work?
The IMSS reported that the new communication mailbox came into effect on August 6, 2024 and although its activation is not an urgent requirement, it is recommended that the right holders do so before February 1, 2025, since “eventually” it will be replaced and the face-to-face form will no longer be valid.
“You have 3 business days to open the digital documents that the Institute has sent you in the IMSS Mailbox. This period will count from the next business day after it was sent to you,” he commented.
