Argentine President Javier Milei will participate in the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), the largest and most influential forum of right-wing movements in the world, which will take place on August 24 in Mexico City, the event’s organizers announced on Monday.
“The President of the Argentine Republic, Javier Milei, has confirmed his participation in the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Mexico, which will take place on August 24,” said a press release from the Mexican Eduardo Verástegui, actor and activist who organizes the event.
According to the information, Milei will present “a strong message about the urgent need to continue fighting for freedom in Latin America and the world.”
The text anticipated that his speech will be one of “the culminating moments of the event, attracting the attention of conservative leaders and defenders of freedom throughout the region.”
At the event, which will be held at a hotel in the luxurious Polanco neighborhood, Milei will address the importance of the “unwavering defense” of individual rights, the reduction of the size of the State and the promotion of an economic system based on market freedom.
“Her message is destined to resonate deeply among leaders and citizens who seek a future based on solid principles of freedom,” the organizers said.
They said they hope Milei will emphasize the central line of her thinking, that “the fight for freedom is not an option but an obligation for all those who aspire to a future of prosperity and development.”
CPAC is an annual political conference that brings together social actors who hold conservative positions in the United States and is considered one of the political arms of presidential candidate Donald Trump in the run-up to the November elections.
Outside the United States, CPAC was founded in 2019 in Brazil, where Milei closed the event last July.
In 2022, it began in Mexico, where the most visible leader is the actor, producer and former presidential candidate Eduardo Verástegui, who has been characterized by his political alliances with Trump and promoting far-right and conservative discourse in the country.
The participation will occur in the midst of the distancing from the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, since in April Milei called him “ignorant” in an interview with CNN, to which the Mexican responded: “I still don’t understand how the Argentine people, being so intelligent, voted for him.”
