Lilith Saori was last seen more than a year and a half ago in the Zicatela area of Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca. She was on vacation, and after an argument with her companions she left the hotel where they were staying, and her fate is still unknown.
“It was very sad to find out on Instagram that Lilith had disappeared. One day after the events occurred, I saw a post in which they shared a search bulletin,” says Joanna, the young woman’s mother.
Joanna explains that, at 21 years old, Lilith lived with her partner, so she didn’t find out that they were going on a trip. It was not until she came across the post on social media that she found out about her daughter’s trip, and that her whereabouts were unknown.
“She went to spend New Year’s Eve with her partner, a cousin of the couple and her boyfriend. On the 31st they traveled early and had their return ticket for January 6th, but she didn’t come back. Apparently there was an argument between Lilith and her partner, and after this my daughter left the hotel for the beach, where they were lost,” she recalls.
What is known about Lilith’s disappearance
According to the search bulletins issued by the Prosecutor’s Office and the State Search Commission, Lilith Saori Arreola disappeared on the night of January 2, 2023 in Playa Zicatela, municipality of Pochutla, Oaxaca, although the complaint for her lack of location was filed two days later, by her travel companions.
After seeing the publication with the Lilith search bulletin, her mother says that she got money to travel to Puerto Escondido and contacted the young woman’s partner: “I asked him to tell me what was happening, because I was in shock. It was then that he explained to me that my daughter had gone into an anxiety attack and had run away.”
According to the version of the people who were traveling with Lilith, when they saw her running they tried to catch up with her without success, although in a video that the authorities showed Joanna it is observed that two of the companions managed to catch up with her on the street and spoke with her for a couple of minutes, and then stood watching as the young woman walked away.
