A street taco vendor was caught attacking an officer from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City with his own merchandise, presumably because the officer asked him to relocate.
In the video, which began to go viral on social media, the vendor is seen throwing tacos de canasta at the police officer.
In this regard, the SSC reported that the attack was against an element of the Auxiliary Police (PA), on Saturday, August 10, on José María Pino Suárez Avenue, at the height of Venustiano Carranza Street, in the Centro neighborhood, in the Cuauhtémoc municipality.
The agency reported that: “an officer who was making rounds in the area, noticed that a merchant was arguing with an employee from the public road reorganization area.”
In response to this, “the officer approached to support the public servant and at that moment, the food vendor became aggressive, throwing sauce and part of his merchandise at him.”
The SSC explained that street vending is not permitted in the place where the merchant is located.
On the other hand, on Sunday, August 11, elements of the same department observed the vendor again between Francisco I. Madero and Palma streets, where the officers approached to ask him to leave.
However, the man, 44 years old, did not agree, so he was arrested and brought before a corresponding civic judge, who will define the sanction.
