Two of the most dangerous highways in the country pass near or through Hidalgo, according to data from Círculo Logístico, an association that includes companies in this field, as well as transportation security.
These highways are the Circuito Exterior Mexiquense, near the intersection with the Mexico-Pachuca highway, and the Arco Norte highway, which runs through the state, as well as Puebla, Tlaxcala and the State of Mexico.
The organization said that on the first highway, at the connection with the road that leads to Mexico City, “special care” must be taken when traveling late at night, since, without lighting, it has become one of the routes with the most reports of robberies.
On the other hand, on the Arco Norte highway, which passes through four states in the center of the country, including Hidalgo, criminals fake accidents, block lanes and steal trucks that pass through this section.
In fact, on this last highway, in the sector that connects Tula de Allende with Jilotepec, belonging to the State of Mexico, on June 6, a group of criminals shot several times at the driver of a tractor-trailer, who managed to expose the event through a video that was spread on social networks.
How many complaints have been made for highway robberies?
During the first half of 2024, six investigation files have been opened for robbery of transporters on highways in Hidalgo, in four of which it was argued that the robbery was carried out with violence, according to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP).
Meanwhile, in the period from January to December of last year, 28 complaints were filed with the authorities for said crime committed on the arteries of Hidalgo, 19 of which were carried out through assaults.
