A delegation of ten students and two tutors from the city of Hiroshima, Japan, were welcomed by the Secretariat of Education of Guanajuato (SEG) in Dolores Hidalgo to live an experience of academic-cultural exchange.
This program is part of the Friendship Agreement signed in 2014 between the Government of Guanajuato and the Prefecture of Hiroshima, and is designed to foster ties of understanding and mutual learning between young people from both countries.
Juan Rendón López, Regional Delegate I of the SEG, highlighted the value of this type of exchange for the integral development of young people.
“It is an honor to be part of this immersion in learning and culture. I am sure that this experience will not only enrich their knowledge, but will also inspire them to become ambassadors of cultural exchange, bringing with them the best of Mexico to Japan and vice versa,” he said.
The visit to the municipality of Dolores Hidalgo included a tour of the most emblematic historical sites of the municipality, starting with the Museo Independencia and the Museo Bicentenario, located in the historic center of the city.
The Japanese visitors, accompanied by Raúl Martínez Cortes, director of Education in Dolores Hidalgo, explored objects and documents that tell the story of the Mexican independence movement, guided by history experts.
The delegation from Hiroshima was able to delve into the importance of these sites and their influence on national history, receiving a detailed context that enriched their experience and allowed them to better understand the historical and cultural legacy of Dolores Hidalgo.
The day continued with a visit to the iconic Parish of Los Dolores, where the delegation marveled at its architecture and history, elements that reflect the rich cultural heritage of the region. The experience was completed with a tasting of the city’s traditional ice creams, a sweet touch that left an indelible mark on the visitors.
“This academic-cultural exchange not only strengthens the ties between Guanajuato and Hiroshima, but also underlines the commitment of the Guanajuato Education Secretariat to promote the comprehensive education of high school students,” said the SEG delegate.
