AMLO promotes foreign investments in Campeche exceeding 3.5 billion dollars

Campeche will receive 3.51 billion dollars in foreign investments for energy and tourism projects, while the SDA invests in the agricultural and beekeeping development of the state.

During the third year of the state administration, the extraction of natural and clean energies has been a priority for the federation, recognized the head of the Secretariat of Economic Development (Sedeco), Fernando Gamboa Rosas, recalling three regional projects that impact Campeche.

This was stated during the fourth day of the cycle of hearings, where the members of Mission 4 “Economic Development with a Vision for the Future” highlighted that, regarding foreign investments, Campeche will benefit from an income of 3.51 billion dollars, which converted to Mexican pesos equals 69.67 billion pesos in four companies that will undertake work in the state.

The largest investment is through the French company Engie, which will be responsible for the construction of the “Cuxtal” gas pipeline, costing 2 billion dollars, with a length of 500 kilometers that will pass through the states of Yucatán, Campeche, and Tabasco.

The second largest project is the construction of the first green hydrogen and ammonia plant in the country, with an investment of 1.1 billion dollars by the German company Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), which will be erected in Champotón.

Additionally, the construction of the “La Pimienta” Solar Park with an investment of 250 million dollars by the American company Atlas, which will implement one million photovoltaic panels, generating 300 MW of energy for the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).

Finally, with a bipartite investment of 160 million dollars between companies from Korea and the United States, the plant of the company Chihuahua Electrical Wiring Systems (CEWS) was launched, which to date has provided 2,200 jobs for the people of Campeche.

They also attended to more than 5,000 people seeking employment with job placement services, placing 1,500 people in jobs, of which 130 were benefited with self-employment support, 892 through the job bank, 249 in job fairs, and 202 in the Youth Building the Future Program.

Tourism Presence

Regarding tourism in 2023, Campeche received a total of 1,593,288 tourists, representing an increase of 27.7 percent compared to 2022.

In terms of the lodging sector, there was an arrival of 1,435,588 tourists who stayed in hotel establishments, with an occupancy rate of 45.97 percent, while 157,700 tourists opted to stay in properties through digital platforms, resulting in a tourism economic impact of 3.81 billion pesos.

Additionally, in terms of the meetings industry, Campeche is in the process of consolidating itself as an attractive destination, as 29 congresses and conventions were held in the last year, equivalent to an economic impact of 165.48 million pesos.

Support for the Field

In the support received by the field through the Secretariat of Agricultural Development (SDA), with an investment of 93.7 million pesos, 6,000 men and women in 10 municipalities were benefited, and more than 4,500 hectares were mechanized.
