The former regional commander of the defunct Federal Highway Police, Arturo Reynoso Soto, was shot dead as he left a casino south of Tapachula, Chiapas, security sources reported.
Police reports indicated that armed men arrived at the gambling establishment around 3 a.m. this Friday and shot the former agent and a companion in the parking lot of the site.
Emergency personnel went to the scene of the attack and when they examined the two victims, they no longer had vital signs. The second victim was identified as Agustín Morales.
Forensic agents from the State Attorney General’s Office arrived at the crime scene to carry out the legal proceedings and remove the bodies to the Forensic Medical Service.
Sources from the Attorney General’s Office indicated that one of the lines of investigation of the double homicide is that the former police commander was related to migrant trafficking.
Furthermore, since he was in the defunct Federal Police he had enriched himself and established businesses such as a fleet of taxis at the Tapachula International Airport, among others.
